KitchenAid at Cirillo’s Culinary Academy
Posted under random thoughtsI have never had a KitchenAid appliance.
Mostly because I have a small kitchen with even smaller storage, so if I got one of their awesome blenders, I’d have to move – or at least get rid of all of the food and spices.
That being said, I couldn’t resist seeing them in person. New colours, new features and new appliances are as exciting to me as I think diamonds are to most women. I couldn’t wait to simply touch them, feel their weight and imagine all the culinary wonders I could create if only I had one of these.
They were showcased at Cirillo’s Culinary Academy, a cooking class studio that has a bevy of gas ovens, brushed-stainless steel countertops and KitchenAid appliances. I’d never heard of it before, probably because it’s in Etobicoke. Not that that’s a bad thing, it’s just that I’m a downtown girl so I don’t get out that way but for events such as these.
The big draws of course are the Stand Mixer and Food Processor, but I was impressed with the innovative changes and improvements that KitchenAid has made with some of their other tools.
Take their Immersion Blender, for example. They now offer shafts of different lengths, allowing you to customize it to the pot you’re working in. The handle grip is comfortable rubber and there is a plastic cover for the bottom of the stainless steel blade, so that you don’t scratch your pots (especially great if you’re working with non-stick). Their Slow-Cooker has a flip-top opening now, so you don’t have to actually take the lid off, and they’ve added a silicone lip so that the juices and liquids fall back into the pot, not down the sides and onto your tabletop.
These changes show that the company is really watching how we’re using their tools and making changes as we need them. Are your other kitchen tools company doing that?
New colours such as Espresso (below) and Raspberry (first pic) add new life to your countertop and kitchen.
Not inexpensive by any means, but the quality of KitchenAid products speaks for itself. You will get years and years of use out of these tools – and they will make getting dinner on the table that much easier.
To me, that’s worth it.
